Your first listing
This walk-through takes about ten minutes. You need a role that may add and publish listings, and your company’s file storage connected (for example Google Drive), or photos cannot be uploaded.
Before you start
Check that the lists you need exist under Settings, Properties: the city and area, the property type and the amenities. Your company may already have a starter set. Add what is missing first; a listing needs an area.
1. Add the listing
- Open Properties, Listings and press Add.
- Choose the type: Sale, Lease or Holiday home. Only the types your company switched on are offered.
- Enter the reference (unique in your company) and the English title, summary and description. The Arabic tab holds the same texts; if your plan includes translation, “Save and translate” fills them in.
- Pick the area and, if any, the project.
- Fill the property fields: property type, bedrooms, bathrooms, size in square metres, amenities.
- Type-specific fields: maximum guests for a holiday home; completion (
readyoroff_plan) and the handover date for a sale.
Save. The listing is now a Draft, visible in the admin and not on the website. A slug per language was made from the title; edit it now if you want to, because it is fixed once published.
2. Price and permits
On the Price and permits tab:
- Enter the price, the currency and the period:
night, month, yearortotal. - Turn on “Show the price on the website” if the price should be public. It is off by default and needs a price. While off, the website gets no price at all.
- Enter the advertising permit number your market issues, when it has one (Madhmoun in Abu Dhabi, Trakheesi in Dubai). Your company’s rules decide whether it is required before publishing; the Abu Dhabi starter pack requires it for sale and lease listings.
- For a holiday home, the holiday-home permit number is optional.
3. Location
On the Location tab, click the map or drag the pin to the property; typing the latitude and longitude moves the pin too. Set the precision: exact when the pin marks the property, approximate when it only marks the neighbourhood. “Remove the position” clears it. A position is optional, but listings without one show in the “Needs work” filter.
4. Photos
On the Photos tab, upload the photos, drag them into order (the first is the cover) and give each one alt text in English and Arabic. Majali strips camera metadata and makes the web copies in the background; a photo shows as ready once they exist.
5. Publish
Open the listing and change its status from Draft to Published, or select it in the Listings list and use the publish action. Once published, the listing is on your website at your company’s path, by default /en/listings/{slug} and /ar/listings/{slug}.
To tidy the website, tick featured for listings that should come first and set sort_order.
What blocks publishing
| Block | What to do |
|---|---|
| Your role may not publish | Save as Draft and ask someone with the publish permission |
| The advertising permit number is missing and your company’s rules require it | Enter the permit number on Price and permits |
| Too few photos, or photos narrower than your company’s minimum, when the bar is set to block | Add or replace photos; a warning-level bar lets you publish |
| Photos waiting for file storage | Ask whoever manages integrations to connect storage, then upload again |
After publishing
- To take the listing off the website for a while, set it to Hidden; set it back to Published when ready.
- When the property is sold or let, set it to Withdrawn. The address stays reserved and visitors with an old link learn it is gone. A withdrawn listing can be published again later with the same address.
